I know that this is coming out of nowhere but...well...look, I don't really have that many adult friends and this is an adult question and I'm not asking Mr. Shade this cause he wouldn't be helpful and I don't think he even went to high school in the first place, so please just call back okay?

Everything's fine, it's just...I'm starting high school in about two months and the stores have already started to put out school supplies, so I'm just kind of panicking here.

Is that what has you so riled up? Well, considering how much they can gouge you for prices, I don't blame you. What school are you attending?

I'm attending Heropa High. Some of my friends from Heropa Middle are gonna be there, but a lot of them won't be.

Unfortunately, that sort of thing can happen. But that doesn't mean you can't stay in touch with them and see how they're doing. Still, it's good to have some people you know - you'll be able to get along together.

You know, lots of schools put out supply lists ahead of time- you should try and see if you can track one down, to make sure you'll be able to get everything you need. You can make a trip of it with your friends.

Yeah, but I'll have to meet new people and make new friends! Again! For like the fifth time since I've been here!

[ and Hime lets out a nervous little 'augh' noise because introductions are hard. ]

Plus...I don't wanna mess everything up again.

It sounds like you've got some practice. What are you worried about repeating?

Well, the first day of school back home...I kind of messed up. I got so nervous that I couldn't properly introduce myself and then got so scared I hid in a supply shed.

I know that I've changed a lot since then, but...it's still kinda scary, you know?

It couldn't have been that bad, Hime. And sometimes you can just pass it off as you 'messing up' on purpose, and turn it in to a joke.

You think so? I'd have to practice that though, I'm not really good at just being funny on the fly.

I wouldn't worry about it, either way. First impressions aren't everything, Hime, and I know you'll do fine making friends. If you're not comfortable being funny, don't try to be.

Just be yourself.

Do you have any idea how many students I've seen trying to be someone else, only to end up being miserable?

I'm speaking from experience, here.

Even if I wasn't, I did raise a child. And I'm sure your own parents would give you similar advice.
