then hesitates.

'Tadashi', after all, was the one who had asked him to the barn in the first place.

[ It's been a few days since the psychic dive, a few days of being back out of the comm and finally adjusting to having a physical body again. He knows he should just stay close to home for a while - and he does for the most part, staying close to his aunt's home in Heropa. But Hiro can't stay cooped up forever. And despite the dive, there are a few dangling threads that he feels desperate to tie up. The first of these is visiting the portal itself to see exactly how badly he damaged it and the barn. And then ...

Callaghan. He almost doesn't want to do this. Would be happy never to speak with him again, to just leave their relationship where it is now. Now they're even, in a weird sort of way; Callaghan caused Tadashi's death and Hiro very much tried to murder the professor. That's more than enough reason for two people to never, ever cross paths again. But ... as he sifts through the wreckage of the barn looking for salvageable portal components, he finds something else. That decides it. He has to at least try to mend things by this tiny amount.

He feels terribly guilty leaving his aunt's place without telling anyone, given the circumstances, but he doesn't feel right worrying them by saying he's going to Callaghan's office either. He compromises by leaving a physical note on the table - Need some air, back in a few hours - and quietly switching off the GPS tracker in his hood. Not a great note, but something. He's not going to go off and do something terrible again.

That's how he finds himself quietly making his way into Xavier's, his hand clutched around something small and hard in his palm. Half of him hopes that Callaghan won't be here, that he'll be able to just leave the item and be done with it. The other half ... he's less certain about. Does he want to see Callaghan? What does he expect by hoping to catch him here? Nothing good, surely.

He swallows, hard, before knocking at the door to his office. ]

[it's been rough.

his session with Crane on Monday went as well as it could have, and, at least, gave him the calm that he'd lost since the barn. it's helped him regain the perspective he's so sorely needed, to the point where he can shake his head at his immediate actions - to be fair, he was stressed and panicking. the campus has been calming enough, in turn - burying himself in work has always been a good diversion for him.

to say nothing about what he's been tinkering with on the side.

still, his responsibilities take priority over any toys he may be playing with - and so, even at this hour, it's not unheard of for him to be in his office. not unheard of for him to barely glance up before looking back down at his desk, reshuffling some papers]

Wasabi's hoping that it's just a coincidence, but it merits being looked into. It could be messy at best, just another facet of all of this that's sending his mind reeling.

Swallowing back his nerves, he places a phone call. His heart's pounding by the time it starts ringing. ]

[It's been a couple of weeks now since Tadashi's actually seen Callaghan in person. Text him several times since before the road trip, but not just sat and talked with him. And after the events at the barn, he feels he should bring something as an apology. But... what?

It's with that in mind that he finds himself standing before Robert's door at Xavier's after asking directions from a student. He shifts the messenger bag over his shoulder with trembling hands before he knocks. He's almost half-hoping he isn't here but no. No, he came here to check on him and make sure he's all right, if he has any lingering injuries that need healing.]

[Robert's really just starting to relax when the knock comes. he glances up from his book, gives a bit of a mental sigh, then sets it down before getting up to open the door and

blink.]

Tadashi? [beat] Is everything all right?

[no burns, no heavy bags under his eyes from lack of sleep - he could be opening the door to his office at SFIT, for all his manner and appearance.]
